A Class 3 licence allows drivers to operate any vehicle in Class 1 and 2, as well as drive a medium combination vehicle with a gross weight of more than 12,000kg but less than 25,000kg.

Class 3 Full Licence

This NZTA-approved Class 3 truck licencing course can help you to achieve your full Class 3 licence and get on the road safer, sooner.

To be eligible for this two-day course, you must have your Class 3 Learners Licence. To obtain your Class 3 Learners you need to have held your Class 2 Full Licence for six months (if under 25 years of age) or three months (if over 25 years of age). Before attending the course, you are also required to obtain a medical certificate, unless you have presented one to NZTA in the last five years. More information on whether you need to provide a medical certificate can be found here

The two-day course covers the following:

  • Unit Standard: 17575 Operate a Class 3 medium combination vehicle

  • Unit Standard: 24089 Work time/Fatigue/Log Book (May not be required if you can provide evidence that you have completed this unit standard in the last 12 months and we are happy with your level of knowledge)

  •  Driver training session

  •  Practical  assessment

Please note the course costs do not cover NZTA or licencing agency fees. You will need to provide a Class 3 combination vehicle for your assessment.
