With a Class 5 licence drivers can operate heavy vehicles with a trailer weighing over 25,000kg. They can also drive any vehicle in Class 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Class 5 Full Licence

This NZTA-approved Class 5 truck licencing course can help you to achieve your Class 5 Full Licence in just two days.

To be eligible for this two-day course, you must have your Class 5 Learners Licence. To obtain your Class 5 Learners you need to have held your Class 4 full licence for six months (if under 25 ) or three months (if over 25).  More information on how to obtain your Class 5 Learners Licence can be found here. 

This two-day course covers the following:

  • Unit Standard: 24089 Demonstrate knowledge of fatigue management, work time, and driver logbook requirements (May not be required if you can provide evidence that you have completed this unit standard in the last 12 months and we are happy with your level of knowledge)

  • Unit Standard: 17577 Operate a combination vehicle to meet the requirements for a full Class 5 driver licence

  • Class 5 truck for training

  •  Driver training session

  •  Practical driving licence assessment
