Endorsements and Assessments

In order to operate other types of heavy vehicles or transport dangerous goods, you will need to have an endorsement or certification on your licence.
Covering industry standard practical training and theory units, the National Driver Training Centre is the one-stop-shop for you to take your licence to the next level.

Forklift (new and refresher)

Forklift Training and warehouse simulation

If you are utilising a forklift in the workplace, you must have a trained and certified forklift operator. This requires you to hold a Forklift Operators Certificate as a minimum, and, if driving on a road, an F endorsement on your licence.

The Forklift Operators Certificate requires a refresher every three years for the certificate to remain current.

We offer training and certification for:

  • Forklift Operators Certificate

  • F Endorsement

  • Forklift Operators Certificate Refresher

You can complete one or both of these certifications in the same one-day course.

Please note the course costs do not cover NZTA or licensing agency fees

Wheels, tracks and rollers practical training in the real world

Wheels, Tracks and Rollers

This one-day course covers all three endorsements (wheels, tracks and rollers). The W, T, or R endorsement on your licence is required if you drive a special-type vehicle on the road that isn't a forklift.

This course covers theory, practical and assessments for:

  • Wheels (W) endorsement - vehicles that run on wheels that aren’t forklifts.

  • Tracks (T) endorsement - vehicles that run on self-laying tracks.

  • Roller (R) endorsement - vehicles that run on rollers.

The size, weight and speed of the vehicle you are operating may also require you to hold the appropriate class of licence e.g Class 2.

During this one-day course you can complete one or all of the endorsements.

Please note the course costs do not cover NZTA or licensing agency fees.

When filling in the Enquiry email, fill out all contact detail fields please.

Dangerous Goods

Dangerous goods include any substances or articles that have explosive, flammable, toxic, infectious or corrosive properties. If you’re transporting dangerous goods for hire or reward (e.g. if you’re a transport operator or a courier), you will usually require a D endorsement. You must have a dangerous goods (D) endorsement on your driver licence before transporting any dangerous goods.

If you have a dangerous goods (D) endorsement on your driver licence you must complete a refresher every five years to maintain your D endorsement.

With our industry certified training providers we offer two Dangerous Goods Endorsement courses:

  • Dangerous Goods Endorsement (one day)

Please note, if your D endorsement expired more than 12 months ago you will need to resit the full Dangerous Goods Endorsement.

This one-day Dangerous Goods Endorsement course covers:

  • Unit Standard 16718: Demonstrate and apply knowledge of law and practice for the transport of Dangerous Goods by road.

*Please note the course costs do not cover NZTA or licensing agency fee

Additional training

No workplace is the same, so we offer specialised options which can be added to any forklift course for a full day of specialised forklift training.

Options include:

  • Forklift Mounted Attachment course

  • Reach Trucks course
